So, you’re making a Dance Film about the Great Salt Lake?

Yes!

There are scientists, politicians, activists, environmentalists, and greedy capitalists involved in this issue. This is something that is close to my heart, and while I don’t have much to offer as a scientist or a politician in this issue, I am an artist. And I want to use my art to highlight an environmental issue that is close to me and the health of my community.

The local community has been hearing numbers, facts, and figures around the shrinking of The Great Salt Lake for over a decade. In our current zeitgeist we hear statistical information all the time, especially in the matter of global warming. For an issue that feels so devastating, it’s easy to tune it out, or feel overwhelmed by the scientific jargon. This disconnects our humanity from the severity of the issue.

4,200 Feet aims to use art in the mediums of dance and music to bring our humanity back to the issue.
